The Original Juke Box Heroes

The band played a brilliant set as could be expected by the members of Sweet, Slade, Robbie Williams Band and Smokie! Complete professionalism was the order of the day and these excellent musicians played songs from the greats of the seventies and eighties.

Squires Live brings the best of the best to the cafe bar so watch out for further listings!

Rock Anthems at Squires Live!

Rock Anthems gave a fantastic show at Squires Live in June reports manager Paul Bowness. The show clashed with the Farmyard Rally so the crowds were diluted on the night which was a pity as Rock Anthems were brilliant and will return later.

The Tremeloes at Squires Live April 26th 2008

Squires Live! came alive to one of the best ever bands to play at the countryside cafe bar since the new era started. The legendary Tremeloes literally stormed through a set of their classic pop songs and they did so to a very appreciative audience of mostly people who remembered it the first time around, a time when The Tremeloes were regular members of the "top ten". The very amiable four piece had the dance floor full throughout the night and the quality of their performance was 100%. Vocals and harmonies were spot on and the musicianship was just the same, absolutely brilliant. The band were supported by Bradford's Numb Nutz who did two excellent sets, both before and after The Tremeloes set. Numb Nutz played very well and with a different repertoire of covers to the norm, were very enjoyable. Lights and sound engineering was by the Splash Alley Crew and well done to them too. Squires Live management are succeeding in putting top bands into the area and this night was a resounding success.

Merseybeats /Splash Alley /Top Notch at Squires Live!

Squires Live rocked on Saturday the 23rd February night with three bands, three really good bands at the famous biker cafe. Top Notch the teenage band were truly excellent with some great offerings of popular rock and classic rock from American idiot to Paranoid. Some special mention should be made to the vocal prowess of Michaela Glover the band's bass player, she really has a wonderful voice.  Teenage guitarist Charlie Meehan was on fire playing some great licks, but the whole band rocked and laid the foundations for Splash Alley to play a blistering set bathed in the best light show outside an arena. Both Charlie and Michaela featured alongside the more mature members of Splash Alley who played a very enjoyable repertoire of classic rock and played with a large degree of skill and flair. The Merseybeats came to the stage after a short break and played a singalong set of sixties classics as well as their own original classic music which included Sorrow and I Think of You amongst others. The band also played some great covers, a Beatles medley, Gerry and the Pacemaker's Walk On, Jeff Beck's Hi Ho Silver Lining, Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die, and the Jagger/ Richards Out of Time from the Stones Aftermath album. The bands harmonies were excellent and their sound engineering by Brian Glover and the Splash Alley Crew was spot on. The show as a whole was fantastic, good value for money and as entertaining as could possibly be. The Tremeloes are due at the venue on April 26th.

Union Gap

Union Gap played an excellent set at the cafe bar supported by the West Yorkshire band The Trees.

 What the papers say!

Here is a review from Rock of the North:

T Rex Rock Squires Live on November 17th!

Saturday night saw the official T Rex play Squires Live! There was quite a good turn out of people from the local area to see the band play a brilliant set of songs from the immortal Marc Bolan. This six piece band played favourites such as Ride a White Swan and Truck On Time bathed in the fabulous lighting from Mike Smith's Red 13 company. The lighting was absolutely perfect and subtly done to compliment the excellent PA system on the night. Rob Benson is so much like Marc Bolan, it's uncanny. Original member ,drummer Paul Fenton, is a cracking percussionist and it didn't go unnoticed. During the set Rob gave us a solo medley with just his own guitar and included Deborah and Get It On. Superb stuff which progressed with Life's a Gas, Children of the Revolution and Dandy in the Underworld. The band were very ably supported by The Grimshaws who in between a couple of power failures, played a very enjoyable set of covers with the odd well played blues in there. Apart from a kick drum too high in the mix for the Grimshaws, the sound was very good indeed. An excellent night and one to take heart from as this was the official launch of Squires Live as a venue.
