| Mange 2 at Cookie’s
Bar, Halifax, 27th February 2009 A storm in a tea
cup? Mange 2’s first visit to the
brilliant Cookie’s Bar was a storming success and will be returning in
the summer (date TBA). The first set saw them joined on stage by Lunatic
Fringe singer Matt Eccles to belt out a rousing “Sex on Fire” by Kings
of Leon. Windy had to wait for Pabs to come back from the bar before
continuing with “When Doves Cry” and wrapped up the set with their
medley of Who songs. Brilliant. By the time they went on for
set 2 the place was full. The crowd being a mixture of teens through to
pensioners (oh yes) and everyone having a great time. Old classics like
“Only Natural” went down equally as well as more recent tunes like “All
The Small Things” and the party atmosphere was in full swing. When Pablo
started the arpeggio for System of a Down’s “Lonely Day” it brought
shrieks and cheers from the younger end, and when eventually it lead
into the more famous “Chop Suey” the place exploded. All the seats in
the booths were suddenly transformed into viewing/dancing platforms and
even the pensioners joined in. Due to the lateness of the
evening the boys had to keep the final set down to a shorter than normal
length, but nevertheless, still turned their skills to the likes of
Metallica, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi. Finishing
off with Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” they brought the
evening to a close. This was a special night for
special people. Don’t miss it next time and do try to visit one of the
best bars in the region. Catch the full blown Creme Brulee there on the 28th March. NOT TO BE MISSED!
